Workshop #1. Thinking Beyond the Festival: Creating a Storytelling Series

Thinking Beyond the Festival: Creating a Storytelling Series, Adam Booth, facilitator. Griselle House, Moundsville. Saturday, December 2. 10:00am-4:00pm. $40.

Interested in starting an arts series or increasing arts programming in your community?
This hands-on workshop will engage participants in the methodology of creating a storytelling or other arts series. The workshop will be 60% lecture/discussion and 40% audience participation. Participants will leave the workshop with a set of reasons for starting a story/arts series as well as considerations and experiences to help guide them should they choose to do so. They will see possibilities for financial and social viability (compared to a larger festival) and have ideas for generating local interest and community engagement. They will also have practical advice about advertising, funding, and development from a person who has made a successful endeavor into such a series. Schedule includes workshop, meal/social time, and a demonstration storytelling/arts concert during which participants may take part.
